my understanding of the change to ARC was just a name change necessitated by
directlink expanding into some market where their brand conflicted with an
existing one, rather than an acquisition.
no inside knowledge, just what i heard. i use directlink, and the
discussion on this board is the first i've heard of any possible impending
change; too bad too, had 'em for over 18 months with down time i could
count on one hand (the same cannot be said for when i had a cable modem).

I spoke with them last night. The guy I talked to said they've been told to
tell customers not to worry, that there won't be any change in service. He
took this to mean that directlink's in the process of being sold, and the
deal just hasn't been completed. He didn't have any details, but thought in
a
week or so it should be clear what's happening. The hope is that
directlink's
assets will be acquired by another company, with the end-user noticing no
change.
I guess that's what happened a year or two ago when Directlink was acquired
by ARC, so maybe there's nothing to worry about. Still, I wish there were
some confirmation about all this.
