[NTLUG:Discuss] Linux Today -- unsettling news

I have seen no mention of the following, on this list. I only recently
learned of it myself. Perhaps others have been unaware also. The news
was a great disappointment to me.
A couple of weeks ago, there were allegations and some lengthy
discussion, on LT, concerning LT supposedly favoring its own affiliated
websites over other Linux websites, and an editor (maybe now he's a
former editor; I don't know) admitted posting to LT article discussions,
under a phony name.
The discussions I have seen are at the following:

When I read all this recently, it startled me. I have, for the last
couple of years, come to regard Linux Today as a good "one-stop" place to
see the latest daily Linux news. I thought they were relatively
impartial.
In the last couple of months, I was "away" from seeing LT as frequently
as I had been previously; then, I started viewing it again. I have
noticed how much "thinner" the site had gotten -- many fewer articles,
it seemed, and older articles stayed on it much longer.
When I see things like this, I think to myself: Gates and Ballmer may
not even have to try to "do it" to us anymore; apparently, we may be
doing it to ourselves. What a downer.
