I'm a little suprised that netscape ended up in /usr/local/netscape6.1 in
the
first place. /usr/X11/bin is a more usual place for it - and that's already
on your search path. Is there some kind of 'install' thing you need to run
in your netscape directory to put everything in the correct places?

Wow, a lot of options, and I am doing a lot of reading on it now that I know
what it is that I need to read! it is in the /usr/local/netscape6.1 dir
because a previous installation put it in /usr/local/netscape, and there was
the older version of netscape 4.77 I believe in there and it was opened
everytime I typed netscape. Although looking at all these posts and what I
am reading that may not have been the case. Either way, I wanted to
distinguise 6.1 so I can go back and remove 4.77, and I was getting confused
as to where either of the two were located. Then there was the case of
trying to create a launcher, which I really have never used, been doing
everything from the command line, but getting lazy. I could not figure out
how to say /usr/local/netscape/ ./netscape for the command for the launcher.
SO I now know a little bit about it, and I changed my path= to path=./ and
it seems like it would be a good thing to change this. I think I will try
the symbolic link, I have been wnating to try one and now is as good a time
as ever! I really like the challenges from linux, I guess I have spent so
much time getting NFS, FTP, Samba, Sendmail and the likes running, I
neglected to learn some of the smaller things, that I should be using more
often. Thanks everyone for the help, this list is great. I hope that one day
I can contribute to helping someone the same as all of you have done me.
Again, thanks all!
