[NTLUG:Discuss] Email Issues

Hello,

I haven't tried telnetting into port 25 yet from off the @home network yet.
I do have a static IP for it though. I tried addressing my full domain in
the email address, when that failed I even tried my static IP. That didn't
work either.

I'm beginning to think that they don't allow port 25 transfers to their
addresses, only to their email servers. Kinda like they don't allow Port
138 anymore due to NetBEUI security issues.

I beleive it can be done, because I've seen users from this list have their
full address for their individual system on this mailing list. Why would a
person get an account on this list where they can only post, and not read.
Talk about lurking!

I haven't seen anywhere in the @Home TOS saying I cannot receive email to
my individual machine. There is even a webpage explaining how to set up a
home network.

(mildly miffed by @Home)
Will

@home might block port 25. Your firewall ( if you have one... and
you should ) might block it. Have you tried to telnet to your
ip address, port 25 to test if you can get a mail server prompt?

what about the IP Address. Do you have a static address?
Receiving mail on a dynamic address can be tricky.
