Mandrake 8.0 sometimes allows me to use serial port com1 (/dev/ttyS0),
sometimes not, on my laptop. It is very frustrating. There are no error
messages. It just works or fails to work. If I power off an boot into
windows, no problem.
If I reboot from Linux into Windows 98, A20 line is hung, and Windows 98
will not restart. I listed it as a bug at mandrake, and they closed it
saying it was a windows bug. I had no such problem with kernel 2.2, so I
know there is a code difference that is doing this. It may be a "windows"
bug, but it can be fixed in the kernel. Does anyone know how to report
this to the kernel writers?
The sound card was not set up properly. I had to do it manually.
Does anyone know how to get into the command line mode in LILO when it
is a graphic screen?
bug
