Hmmm... Clearly a coincidence, because the PUC (properly pronounced
'puke') would not have had time to make the contact, SWBell wouldn't have
been able to schedule the call, etc.
Remember, it's the PUC who says 2400 baud is enough on your POTS phone
line.
Also, I remember when I first started pricing leased lines, I gave up. I
called the phone company, and was quoted something like $1400 a month in
line costs for a four-wire 56K (DS0) circuit, even if it just ran to my
next door neighbor. After getting a heads-up from a friend, I asked for
pricing under FCC Tariff 73 - that dropped it to about $250 per month for
a 40 mile run.
So, if the PUC is such a consumer watchdog, why do they set prices so
differently from the FCC?
