[NTLUG:Discuss] NTLUG 2001 ITEC Show Announcement

Following the success of last years ITEC show, NTLUG will be returning
to the event as an exhibitor for a second year. I have volunteered to
coordinate booth preparations this year, and I hope to make this year
even better than last year.

I want to avoid what happened last year where the initial announcement
went out around this time, but we heard very little (if any) about it
until maybe a few weeks before the show. So this time, I plan to post
status updates every two weeks or so up until the show to avoid being
forgotten.

Exact details of the booth are not yet known, but I hope to find out in
short order. However, it will most likely be the same 10'x10' size as
last year, which is plenty for 3 or 4 volunteers, tables, chairs, and
equipment.

Currently, we're in the "Brain Storming" phase and we need to decide
things like:

	* Booth theme.
	* Decorations and eye-candy (Tux posters and such).
	* Handouts (about Linux, Open Source, and NTLUG).
	* Give away items (CD-ROMS, keychains, pens etc.)
	* Good examples of OSS/Linux software to demo (XMMS, KDE, Gnome etc.).
	* Good ideas for presentations (if any).
	* [your ideas here] :-)

Any help or ideas from group members will be highly appreciated.

I think we're covered on chairs, backdrop, and a table for the front of
the booth. I should be able to handle any lighting/electrical
requirements, but you can never have too many power strips, or extension
cords (please let me know if you can help). We'll probably need a
small(er) table to setup at least one computer for in booth demos, the
one we had last year worked well, but I don't remember who brought it.

If anyone wants to volunteer to help, or assist in getting booth
materials ready, please let me know by e-mailing me directly at
jaguar at imagin.net or through the list.

Thanks in advance for those willing to help.

Stephen Klein
