Try using the viewfax program to view them, if its installed on your
system. For simple use, just run "viewfax <filename>", see the man
page for its full capabilities.
You may need to determine if the fax is in normal or fine resolution
and pass the appropriate option to viewfax, if it can't figure it out
for itself.
The fax files are in G3 format. There are typically a set of
utilities installed that can convert these files to other formats:
g32pbm, g3topbm, convert, etc.
