Trying not to be too rude, but did you try reading the file called
README.install that is included with the tar.gz file you downloaded and
un tar.gz'ed? for example...

# tar zxvf communicator-v475-us.x86-unknown-linux2.2.tar.gz
communicator-v475.x86-unknown-linux2.2/
communicator-v475.x86-unknown-linux2.2/README.install
communicator-v475.x86-unknown-linux2.2/ns-install
communicator-v475.x86-unknown-linux2.2/vreg
communicator-v475.x86-unknown-linux2.2/ifc11.jar
communicator-v475.x86-unknown-linux2.2/iiop10.jar
communicator-v475.x86-unknown-linux2.2/jae40.jar
communicator-v475.x86-unknown-linux2.2/java40.jar
communicator-v475.x86-unknown-linux2.2/jio40.jar
communicator-v475.x86-unknown-linux2.2/joptio40.jar
communicator-v475.x86-unknown-linux2.2/jsd10.jar
communicator-v475.x86-unknown-linux2.2/ldap40.jar
communicator-v475.x86-unknown-linux2.2/resource.jar
communicator-v475.x86-unknown-linux2.2/scd10.jar
communicator-v475.x86-unknown-linux2.2/nethelp-v475.nif
communicator-v475.x86-unknown-linux2.2/netscape-v475.nif
communicator-v475.x86-unknown-linux2.2/spellchk-v475.nif
# cd communicator-v475.x86-unknown-linux2.2
# less README.install

The recommended way to install this software is to use 'ns-install',
<SNIP>

and you go from there. most installs do ahve README's included to help,
be sure to look for them.
