I didn't post originally, because I'm not running a SBLive; plus, I'm not
running SuSE now (it's Mandrake 7.1, a great little distro!)

But, I have had grief with my Sblastr AWE 64 before, and I have tried
SuSE 6.4 just last week, before Mdk reinstall.

Bottom line: try the SuSE sound config program, similar to the RHat
sndconfig; an automatic thing. IIRC, it launched (in the GUI; it's not
command line) from either SAX, or else from some entry off the GNOME
footprint launcher. It is apparently a brandnew program for SuSE with
6.4.

As I say, just tried SuSE last week, and that was the _first_and_only_
time I have_ever_had sound working under SuSE; unfortunately for them,
now I like Mdk much better, so I didn't keep SuSE on. HTH.
