Hello,
I'm having difficulties getting the Gateway information for the
Southwestern DSL connection. The Windows box it's currently hooked up to
has selected on it's 'NTS' system "use default gateway". Tech support
doesn't want to help me, they don't want to give me the gateway, netmask &
submask info. I never even mentioned anything LAN or Linux, they just
didn't want to give me that information, weird?
What I'd like to do is to hook up my Redhat 6.0 box to the DSL modem (it's
external) and then have it go out of my RH box to my hub to break off to my
wife's Win98 box. Later I'm wanting to hook another system (perhaps BeOS)
to the hub as well. I want to use Linux as the server/firewall to do this
with because it supports 'IP masquerading'.
Is there any way anyone could suggest for me to gather my gateway IP from
my Win 98 box? Also, how does Linux deal with the username and password
needed to sign into the SWBell DSL connection? I haven't encountered that
as of yet so I'm not certain. Should I use Linux as a 'dial-up connection'
system, or just 'LAN-connection' system?
Thanks in advance,
Will Pearson
