Jay,

The reason I suggested those permissions is that my wife currently
has a few clients that she did web pages for, which are hosted by
web2010.  I have telnet access to the server that the pages reside on,
and that is exactly how they are set up.  I just did an ftp to one
of her accounts to the /home/username level.  When I did a cd ..
and then an ls, I did *not* see any directories (not even my own)
listed.  From there I tried to cd to another of the accounts and
couldn't.

As I recall, web2010 is running some form of BSD so your mileage may
vary.
