...actually, the penguin isn't "GPL" - it's offered without
restriction so long as you mention that Larry Ewing painted
it using GIMP - "if anyone asks".

Has to be the weirdest OpenSource license I ever heard  :-)

BTW: I maintain the Tux FAQ where you can read all about our
mascot - and find out why he's our "mascot" and not our
"logo" - a point of heated discussion in some quarters!

Well, I guess it just means that the Microsoft Network content
providers really *are* independent from Microsoft's mainstream
operation.  They always claimed that would be the case - perhaps
with the monopoly issue hanging over them, they wanted to avoid
having MSN split off into another company - showing a truly
independent editorial position would certainly help to avoid that.
