I'm not trying to imply that you're wrong about its complaint; what I
_can_ verify is that I am running GnuCash without that library, whatever
it might be.

I'd really suggest that you bounce questions over to
<gnucash-devel at gnucash.org>, as that mailing list will get you at some
people that have used GnuCash with SuSE, various versions, and that
thus may have encountered similar issues.
