are you booting to a console or to X?

if you boot to a console you can see the errors from most kde apps by
switching
to the VC in which you ran startx

if you boot to X I think there is a logfile that will help you with
finding what KDE is complaining about, but I couldnt say where.
Maybe someone else can tell you where the errors are sent.
