[NTLUG:Discuss] debian 2.1 on m68k Mac

Howdy,
I have been successful only up to a point in installing Debian 2.1 on a Performa 475/m68k. The Mac boots to a small OS8.0 "drive". Starting Penquin-17 I get all the device recognition but then right after "VFS Mounted root (minix filesystem)" I get:

Root-NFS: Unable to open at least one network device
Root-NFS: Unable to contact NFS server for root fs, using /dev/fd0 instead
VFS: Cannot open root device 02:00
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 02:00

then the system hangs until rebooted. The install.txt says that if this should happen to try a newer kernel or check my partitions. I have a 700Mb drive partitioned with 61.4Mb for the Mac partition, a 61.4Mb A/UX swap, and the rest A/UX free space. Anyone out there like to take a stab at this "fools errand?" Thanks.
