[NTLUG:Discuss] MI2 boycott

As per the vote at http://www.bigbrother.com, I'm trying to organize a
protest against Mission Impossible 2, which comes out later this month
(May 24).

Anyone interested in helping me get this organized can contact me at
ija at eaze.net. I live in Arlington, and plan on holding the demonstration
at one of the larger theaters in town. I don't want to say which one yet,
however. If for some reason I can't get enough volunteers then perhaps we
could move the demonstration to downtown FW or D?

In case you missed it, this is a boycott due to the MPAA's involvment in
the DeCSS issue. The idea was to boycott a movie that had the potential
to make a lot of money, and had a strong geek following. MI2 was the
decisive winner in the vote.

I'll need help in making signs and/or buttons.... subjects should be
tasteful and should raise concern for the public's freedom of choice
regarding software. I'm thinking of DeCSS signs, linux signs, and the
like. Anyone gifted in the area of speech writing would also be greatly
appreciated.

Any suggestions would be VERY helpful, as I've never led a protest before.
;) I'd like to get a big enough crowd that the media gets interested.
Obviously, if anyone has any connections to reporters, I'd like to hear
from them so that we can figure out what to do.

Let me know what you think... this is an important issue, and central to
the public's right for software freedom.

Sincerely,
Ian Alexander
