Well that could be.  I was thinking that when it looked for scsi hosts it was
trying to communicate to the bios, but once it finds the "host"  (just the
adapter I suppose), it downloads those instructions next...

I had the same "0 hosts found" when I upgraded to RH6.2 because on upgrade they
stopped using initrd, which meant the AIC7xxx driver wasn't loaded which meant
it couldn't mount root...   I'm guessing it's because I build my own kernel with
aic7xxx compiled in, and removed any scsi module reference in /etc/conf.modules.

I wanted to suggest to Mike that he check out www.valinux.com.  They use mylex
raid controllers, and do their own modification of redhat.
