I had a problem similar to this once.  I had two hard drives, one with
Linux and one with Windows 95 and NT.  If the drive linux was on was
defined in the bios, Win95 would not start.  Once I removed the entry
for the linux drive in the bios, Win95 would work just fine.  WinNT would
work either way.  Conspiracy theories anyone?
