what is the consensus on the cmd648 as an addon controller
is the promise udma66 chip a better choice?

I read about buggy cmd640 interfaces in the base kernel options

I know that both are in the unified ide patch
which is a better supported controller?
 
I also know that I would get much better performance from scsi
but

10-15GB ide = $100

9.1GB SCSI = $200-300

and I already have three large ide drives to use
