[NTLUG:Discuss] 64 bit IO on RH EE

Steve,
I know a few things about this (but just a few). I don't
know precisely how it is implemented, but the current LFS
is available as a patch for the kernel. Try as I might I
couldn't find the patch. It's out there though...I know it!
2.3 kernels and the upcoming 2.4 kernel will include this
``out of the box''. Of course, this was only an issue on
32 bit machines. If you've been running Linux on an Alpha
then you haven't had this problem.
I haven't the slightest idea if other distributions are using
this patch, but I wouldn't be suprised. Of course, if the
other distros aren't using the patch it should be simple
to apply the patch yourself (assuming you can find it).
This brings me to another question: is there a central location
that links to all these ``non-standard'' patches? Where is it!
