[NTLUG:Discuss] 2.2.14 floppy module woes

Has anybody:
(1) Built a 2.2.14 kernel;
(2) Build at least version 2.3.4 of depmod;
(3) Build floppy support as a module; and
(4) Have depmod dump core while processing the /lib/modules tree
(i.e., /sbin/depmod -n or /sbin/depmod -a)?
gdb seems to indicate a corrupt __ksymtab section in floppy.o.
Workaround, of course, is to simply compile floppy support into the
kernel, but I'd be interested to know if this is a known problem, or
just me being stupid.
