Any console based email client usually has the option to use vi. mutt is
set up to use it normally, and it is a favorite of many. Pine can also be
configured to use an external editor, and is a personal favorite.
I personally am a huge elvis fan but find it annoying to use for real
document writing. Picos ^J justification (which even works on quoted text
in email that you are responding to) is so beautiful I use it just for
that.
