My system boots to a command prompt (runlevel 3), instead of directly
into X-Win (Slackware runlevel 4). I've tried switching from 3 to 1 and
back, but nothing seems to help. I have seen process listed as "zombie"
and even processes that are still running normally that shouldn've been
killed, but they don't occur every time. Memory allocation also appears
to be normal.
Like I said, it appears to be somewhat random. Luckily, it's a very
rare occurance when I have to shut X-Win down.
