The linux device drivers book by alessandro rubini is great. The key to
making that book understandable is to go to the oreilley web site and
download the code examples talked about in the book. This beats trying to
figure out which files go where.
once you get them and then change into a directory, type make, and come up
with a device driver that works, you will have a good platform for making
tweaks and seeing the results.
