Hmm, it might have been a heat problem then. I had an Asus P5A motherboard which
had the ALi chipset which pulled like 3.5v instead of 3.3v like my other
motherboard chipsets. Try as hard as I might I never really came up with an
effective cooling mechanism for when the CPU was under a heavy strain. When it
got too hot the whole thing just seized up. The same cpu and same hardware on a
different motherboard worked fine, even the same fan on the CPU.
