I hate the built-in editor in Netscape, so I prefer to use PINE
since it lets me tell it which editor to use. Also, I like
text-mode tools because I can use them through telnet/ssh/rlogin.

However, I do use Netscape on occasions (like now).

I'm sure there are yet better choices - but I have
better things to do than to learn how to use another
emailer.
