Well, as I said, I admin several lists (with a few hundred people on
each) - and I set them all up to exclude posts from non-subscribers.
So far, I have not had any complaints about that policy...so I do
believe it to be the lesser of two evils. I understand your reluctance
though.
There is an even more stringent setting in some list servers that
prevents people from posting until they have been subscribed for
some initial period - a week perhaps. That seems a VERY nasty thing
for subscribers - so I don't turn that on.

Yes - but we are obviously on their list of victims - so it *will*
recur.
