[NTLUG:Discuss] Red Hat 6.1 and video card suggestions

I just installed Red Hat 6.1.  Everything seems fine except .......

In X. some applications, and any terminal windows I open are having
problems displaying video properly.  Most of the other apps work very
well.

In xterm, the entire window is the same color as the text.  You cannot
see the text no matter how you configure the colors.

In some apps, the the areas where a bar graph would be are displayed with
a black bar instead.  And some buttons of some apps display a black bar
where the text would be.

I'm tired of dealing with this video card.  It never seems to work right
no matter what Xserver I use. I'm just gonna buy another one.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a well supported, reasonably priced
board?

By reasonably priced I mean around $50.00, give or take a few.  Is there
such a device?

I've already looked at the supported hardware list.  My card is on that
list.  But ....
