When I was at the Amarillo Linux show, one vendor (Brickhouse) had
the "Happy Hacker Book" at their booth as a book that explains this
sort of thing.

Brickhouse sells a pretty nifty firewall system where they modify the
kernel to check a permission table before letting applications run;
they offer a challenge where they give everyone root access, and will
give whomever can get at the contents of a certain file $1000. That's
a pretty tall order...

Anyhoo, here's a link to the book, as well as to "some of its friends."

- essentially a hacking-into-systems "HOWTO."

Hacking Bookstore
- Security Tools ... that are probably usable both "for good and
for evil."
