[NTLUG:Discuss] OT: Apache: Front Page Extensions??

They are MS "extension" that you install into your web server in order for
FrontPage "bots" to work. IMO they make users lazy in that they don't have to
learn to write cgi's or even learn how to FTP.
I have attempted on numerous occasions to install MS FP extensions on Apache
(actually succeeded once) but after reading a bunch of security advisories re:
FP extensions, I immediately removed them.
My advice is to research any and all advisories you can find re: FP extensions
and make your decision based on security. If that means losing some users
because they want FP functionality but installing FP would compromise security,
so be it. As a former webmaster for an ISP, I absolutely refused to compromise
server security for user convenience. Thankfully, our president was a sys.
admin. by trade and agreed with me and backed me up.
