I'm not sure just how authoritative the numbers that we *could*
have at this point are.

--> We have larger figures that represent the size of the Discuss and
Announce mailing lists. But parts of this represent people that
are not necessarily in Texas, but merely people that were
interested in being informed of our goings-on.

--> I just got software from Stuart Yarus that could be used, given
a couple of laptops, and some "priming" with existing members,
to quite efficiently collect stats on who makes it to meetings.

The intent is for this to replace the sign-up sheets that have
    been going around "since forever."

The software was produced by DFWUUG, and they use it for their
    member sign-in.  I'm able to sign in using about 5 keystrokes;
"cbb<return><return>" does the trick as it picks up identities
    via email address.

[Related to that, there is a need for people willing to be involved
in related formal Membership Activities; such folk should head over
    to the "Leaders" list...]

I wouldn't be shocked if a realistic number that could be given would be
on the order of 500 or more. Unfortunately, I suspect that the lists
of people that we *do* have aren't well enough "controlled" for us to be
able to legitimately claim such at present.

I *would* quite hope that we could claim such some time later, perhaps
early next year.
