Sounds like you aren't using encryted passwords in samba. NT SP3 and 98
use encrypted passwords by default. If this is the case then there are
two options: 1) turn off encryted passwords on the Win computer or 2) turn
on encrytped passwords within samba.
If it is a private network, then turning off encryption would probably be
the easiest solution. If it is NT edit the registry setting:
KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Rdr\Parameter
and set "EnablePlainTextPassword"=dword:00000001
Windows 98 has a similar registry setting. Unfortunately, I don't have it
handy.
If you decide that you want to use encryption be sure to read
ENCRYPTION.txt in the samba docs.

Pings work both ways but PC client is unable to perform Diagnosis.txt Test 8 (net view \\BJDLinux). It returns a Error 86: Specified network password is not correct etc. I cannot find the inconsistency. Help is appreciated.
