[NTLUG:Discuss] Killing Off Linux: It's All Academic

Open source software is a Godsend to the third world (less developed
countries, LDCs). Micro$oft may conquer the ultratech world that we live
in but the billions of folks (that's "illions" with a B) who cannot afford
to pay a year's wage for an office suite to manage their local
agricultural co-op, will keep the spirit alive. At the heart of it all of
course is the OS. Whether it is linux or BSD or whatever else may come
down the pike in the years to come, there will remain, a need to
productively employ all of the "obsolete" intel-based hardware that is
jettisoned into the LDCs by businesses and homes in the high-tech
countries.
