Nope, not overclocking. And this system has been extremely stable before now.
I do suspect it's the TFC server... I think I'll try a kernel upgrade, or
possibly disabling ProFTPD temporarily (it still has holes in it).

BTW big kudos to Waterloo Maple Inc... Maple 5.1 for Linux is superb, and
every it as functional as the Windows version. Plus it comes on the Windows
and Mac CD for no additional $$$.

And thanks to everyone with suggestions about my problem.
