No, it isn't. NTLUG always has been and always will be a volunteer
organization. And, btw, I don't know why there wasn't
sit-around-and-gab time after the last meeting, but that is very
atypical. I've been to nearly every NTLUG meeting, and I can't
remember but once, maybe twice, where there was no such activity
afterwards, and I think that was in the case of bad weather.
For your future reference, and everyone else's, don't feel bashful
about standing up and talking. NTLUG never has been, and will never be
as long as I'm involved, a top-heavy or top-down
organization. <<Logical befuddlements arising from the President
pronouncing, in true top-down form, that there'll be no top-down
pronouncements moved to private mail.>>
Just because some of us call ourselves officers now doesn't mean that
NTLUG has changed dramatically. The "incorporation thing" was
primarily so we could have a chance of getting corporate support for
things like a conference or other bit-ticket projects.
At any rate, you guys seem to have had just about everything needed to
do the Demo Day thing, except for an abundance of volunteers. You
certainly don't *need* any officer's "approval". That's another good
lesson to have learned from this, I think.
