Oh - I see, you are running on some remote machine with ssh.  Which
machine
did you upgrade - the remote one or the local one?

If it was the local machine that you changed, then it's not going to be
termcap that's screwed up - it would be the programs running on the
remote machine that were failing to find vt100 in /etc/termcap.
