I finally got to talk to a GTE techy type on DSL.  The modem they have
will run off Linux, as some had already said, but they do not provide
support from their ISP service, no biggy here.

>From an earlier conversation I had gotten the impression that they gave
you POP service directly from the DSL circuit but he said that's not
the case so an ISP is needed, as mentioned as well.  They also require 
you to use their static IP(s).  I guess this is a non issue as I can
sub-domain multiple sites off my gateway/router.

They did want to push their hosting service real hard but in the long
term I don't think that would work for my target.

The 1 thing that bothers me about DSL is the low CIR.  Anyone got some
real world experience on how DSL really performs?
