JOB DESCRIPTION: 
This position under general supervision, administers day to day
operations of core Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Oracle hardware. Serves
as primary support for all Oracle/Linux related hardware/software and
O/S problems. Evaluates new hardware/software and related standards.
Works with outside suppliers to obtain technical specifications for
hardware and peripheral solutions. Coordinates RFQ proposals for
management review and approval. Stays current with the latest hardware,
operating systems technical releases. May function as technical project
leader on business projects.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
·        Responsible for deploying and maintaining all
hardware/software related to the Oracle/Linux environment.
·        Responsible for identifying and resolving related hardware and
O/S failures and issues and ensure system and business continuity is
upheld.
·        Install, setup, configure and troubleshoot backups, storage
devices and software, cabling and any software related to the Oracle
equipment. Solid understanding of disk I/O technology and all levels of
data protection (RAID) is a must.
·        Maintain OVM (Oracle Virtual Machine) environments.
·        Maintain storage appliances (ZFS, EMC, Compellent, etc.)
·        Must be able to troubleshoot server related issues and present
solutions.
·        Ability to multitask.
·        Upgrades software components and installs operating system
upgrades as required.
·        Monitors, reports and adjusts related systems by utilizing
authorized tools then recommends and implements adjustments upon
approval.
·        Provides users with second and third level technical support
utilizing ODC ticketing system and adhere to established SLAs.
·        Responsible for on call rotation for afterhours system
support. Requires administrator to wear a notification device such as a
pager and/or cell phone. Administrator must be available to handle
questions on weeks that he/she is off rotation.
·        Implements system changes in a controlled manner; will adhere
to company change control policies.
·        Documents network and system diagrams, process flow diagrams,
and backup/recovery procedures.
·        Primary responsibility for system backup and recovery;
coordinates offsite media storage.
 
Skills/Experience Requirements:
·        8+ years of hands-on experience administering, monitoring, and
supporting Oracle/Red Hat Linus environment in addition to demonstrated
experience architecting and system design.
·        Solid understanding of Application and Web Services.
·        Solid understanding of OVM (Oracle Virtual Machines) and
server virtualization.
·        Solid understanding of OS related impacts to Oracle databases,
and tuning methodologies specific to Oracle environments.
·        Experience with ensuring JSOX/PCI compliance.
·        Experience with Oracle E-Business Stack including OBIA, SOA,
EBS, OTM, Demantra, ESS and GRC.  
·        Solid understanding of networking protocols and design.
·        Strong experience scripting in shell, Perl, PowerShell and
VBScript.
·        Effectively use, customize, and script common command-line
utilities.
·        Perform essential system administration tasks including basic
installation, package management, and user management procedures.
·        Manage a Linux workstation or server, including installation
and configuration of local components and services as well as
connections to existing network services.
·        In-depth knowledge needed for most essential Red Hat
Enterprise Linux network services and access control mechanisms.
·        Must possess excellent problem-solving abilities.
·        Must be knowledgeable of current operating system trends.
 
Education Requirements:
·        8+ years minimum experience with a Bachelor's degree in
information technology or equivalent.
·        Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA) or
·        Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) credentials.
