About the Job


Our client has an immediate opportunity for a senior Unix System Engineer /
Administrator.  The primary responsibility will be to manage their Red Hat
Linux datacenter environment and to support other engineers on HP_UX and
Solaris.  This person will be the lead UNIX engineer who will maintain the
company's System Operations, Backup/DR environments, SAN (HP EVA)
Administration and provide overall Datacenter support.  The primary emphasis
of this position is in Red Hat Linux system engineering and administration.
This position requires a person to be a team player with strong leadership
qualities to lead the Red Hat Linux environment for a large, global,
enterprise environment.  This position requires exceptional interpersonal
and communication skills, along with excellent troubleshooting and
problem-solving skills.

The position requires 10+ years of experience with focus in architecting and
implementing Linux / UNIX and Storage HW solutions.  The person is required
to have expert skills in Linux (Red Hat Enterprise.).  Good knowledge of
HP_UX v11.x and Solaris systems would be helpful.  Past experience working
with Oracle, Oracle RAC, OS Clustering (HP MC Service Guard) and EVA SAN
Administration would be a plus.  Hands-on experience with FC zoning, ISL on
Brocade Switches, HP Blade c_Class, HP Integrity would be helpful.  A
technical degree or equivalent in Red Hat and SAN related certifications is
preferred.

Specific responsibilities: 

-- Setting up and managing Linux (on HP Blade), HP_UX on Integrity servers. 

-- Experience and knowledge to support Oracle and RAC. 

-- Installing and configuring HBA's on UNIX servers and connecting them on a
SAN.

-- Managing the HP EVA environment and being a backup to the other senior
Unix Engineer.

-- Assisting in setting up the servers with DR tools and maintaining
documentation.

-- Monitoring the environments and providing management with reports.
