<BR><FONT SIZE=2>I have not ever posted a question here before, but I have been an avid </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>reader for a while now. I am hoping that you guys can help me out. I am </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>about to pull out all my hair, and I have exhausted google. I am trying to </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>install the Linux Detonator drivers on my redhat 7.2 box. I will post my </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>system specs below, but I am sure its just a software item which I am </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>completely missing. I will outline what i did below, and maybe I can get </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>help from you guys. :) Thanks in advance for your patience.</FONT>

<P><FONT SIZE=2>1. Install RedHat 7.2 (Install works great, with no problems)</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>2. Download NVchoose.sh and run</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>3. Download the latest kernel, and GLX files. I grabbed the .src.rpm, and </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>the tar.gz of each</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>NVIDIA_GLX-1.0-4191.src.rpm</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>NVIDIA_GLX-1.0-4191.tar.gz</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-4191.src.rpm</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-4191.tar.gz</FONT>
</P>
<P><FONT SIZE=2>4.I put in my RedHat 7.2 second disk, and I installed the source for my </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>Kernel because I read that I needed to have that.</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>5. I placed my downloaded files in /usr/src.</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>6. I did the following just like the nvidia site specified</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2> $ tar xvzf NVIDIA_kernel.tar.gz</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2> $ tar xvzf NVIDIA_GLX.tar.gz</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2> $ cd NVIDIA_kernel</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2> $ make install</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2> $ cd ../NVIDIA_GLX</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2> $ make install</FONT>
</P>
<P><FONT SIZE=2>7. I also edited my XF86Config-4</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2> Changed</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>Driver "nv"</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2> to</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>Driver "nvidia"</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2> Load "glx"</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2># Load "dri"</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2># Load "GLcore"</FONT>

<P><FONT SIZE=2>Once, I have all this done, I try to startx, and I am given an error that </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>the nvidia kernal module not found. I run an lsmod, and it indeed does not </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>show up. I then tried to install via the .src.rpm method exactly as the </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>nvidia instructions say, and I get the same errors. I have combed through </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>tons of forums, and I have tried dozens of sure fire methods that are </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>working for other people. I am obviously missing some step along the way.</FONT>

<P><FONT SIZE=2>I am pretty new to RedHat, and Linux overall. I am pretty good, and familiar </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>with Irix, and I just need a push in the right direction. When I am </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>installing Redhat, I am choosing all the options to install except </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>wwwserver, ftpserver, newsserver. I did install kernel developement, and </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>application developement. I tried installing redhat 7.1 and following this </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2><A HREF="http://www.evil3d.net/articles/linux/howto/nvidia/redhat71/" TARGET="_blank">http://www.evil3d.net/articles/linux/howto/nvidia/redhat71/</A> to the T, and I </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>don't have all the same things that he mentions such as the Linux folder in </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>/usr/src. I only end up with the same results as before in 7.2.</FONT>
</P>
<P><FONT SIZE=2>I would be very greatful for any help which you might offer. I know this </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>isn't a very techincal reply, but I must be missing some key ingredient </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>somewhere. Thanks again for your help, and time.</FONT>

<BR><FONT SIZE=2>I am running XP in dual boot with Redhat, but it is running fine, and has </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>since install. Redhat works great untill, I go messing around with it's </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>video drivers. I am trying to get these installed, and then use wine-x from </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2>Transgaming. Have a great day, and take care.</FONT>
