I have a laptop with one NIC, that follows me around.
One location dictates that I use a static IP and default route, and
another insist that I be a DHCP client.
I am guessing that I can use the "Clone" feature on the "Interfaces"
tab in the "Network Configurator" (i.e.: netcfg), and then (de)activate
interfaces as needed, though I have not tried this as yet.

I would very much appreciate hearing from anyone who has had any experience
or success with this idea, or could explain the difference between "Alias"
and "Clone" in this situation.
Thanks.
