<P><FONT SIZE=2>However, trying your suggestion of ifconfig eth0:0 0.0.0.0 works very well. Both ifconfig -a and a ping test both confirm the ip has gone away.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT SIZE=2>Not sure why down, etc. doesn't work like expected, but now I have a workaround. Perhaps there is something funny going on with the 3com NIC driver?? Oh well. At least now I have a working solution.</FONT></P>
