These all sound great to me, I look forward to the cooler weather and a
break up here in Valley View so I can make some of these.
I would like to thank all the posters, I don't say a lot, but
read them all with great interest. Today I was successful in partitioning
2 gigs of my 4.3gig for Red Hat 5.2
which after figuring out fips I was able to do the initial install
successfully (cheers!!! jumping up and down ) my mouse works in XFree and
RH recognized my ATI video card after a few shots (oh happy day). The 5.2
cd had no problem at all working with my wacky AMD 133 clone , so I proudly
stuck the Penguin logo in the vacant logo box.
Now I gotta read up on configuring and pray I can get my cheese 56k
PnP modem to work, if not back to 14400 for a while.

Summer is usually a slow month for us. Let's
get the end of summer and this
fall kicked off right by trying to fill up as much of the NTLUG calendar
as possible!!

If you have an idea that you think you could turn into a presentation
please let me know. I will gladly help you in the creation if
you need
supplies, etc. Also, realize that we usually have an overhead
projector
in the meeting room.....laptops/computers are not needed to do a presentation.

Ideas for presentations:

1. Security Issues: Isolation from others on a network.
For example, the
popularity of cable modems has risen
to much concern over security.

2. Xfree86 Configuration: An oldie topic which is
due for a presentation.

3. ISA PnP Peripheral Configuration: For example, sound
boards. There's
still a lot of ISA boards.

4. Printer Setup: From /etc/printcaps to filters....lots
of topics here.

5. Faxing from home: I don't think we've had anyone do
a presentation
on this.

Also, consider presentations for the Beginner's Linux group headed up
by Ray Foley. If you zap me something appropriate....I'll gladly
forward
it onto Ray. Of course, you can contact Ray directly at rmfcons@airmail.net.

Likewise, you may also consider "deeper" technical presentations which
could
be about programming, advanced administration or new technologies relevant
to the Linux community.

And remember, anything Linux related can make for a good presentation!!

Regards,
Chris
