Some time back I wrote a rant to the list about Iced Tea working then 
not working with Firefox and having to switch back to Java. Well, 
recently I switched to Opera from Firefox.  When I went to use the 
particular application where Iced Tea had been a problem I thought "oh 
no, not again, I'll have to get Opera to use Java" but then everything 
worked...  So, maybe I needed to trash Firefox and not Iced Tea.  I 
don't know and don't have the time just to test so, if you were 
influenced by my rant, reconsider.
