ok... doesn't sound like a xhost permission problem any more. 

I looked on google and found some "no video"  problems with 
ogle and other DVD cliens. Something aboue xv or maybe 
nvidia and FC2. 

What distribution are your running? 

Does your /var/log/XF* logs show any errors?
