I guess it all depends - My experience with IBM hard drives in SGI 
Origins and o2's would give a thumbs down to IBM.  But the IBM drives in 
our Unisys 6000/65 (1993) just keep rockin'.   WD does have a pretty 
good record with me though, especially in an Intel box.  Maxtor is iffy 
- if it last 90 days, it will probably be OK.  But you can say that 
about almost any drive.  Was a time when I knew which countries of 
origin to avoid if the drive was a Seagate.  The problem with commodity 
parts ... you now the story, we like the price, but not the quality.
