look on rpmfind.net for 'rfb'. 
rfb will let you connect/disconnect from a running desktop.
rfb is "remote control for the X Window System" that use vnc. 
it's REALLY, REALLY slow. 


if all you really want is to see 'a' blue-curve desktop, you 
might be able to use vnc and do a gnome-session once you've 
connected.
