I was just looking at those too. My first requirement was cataloging all
my media, but only some of them would I digitize and stream. That meant I
wasn't going to stick all the cd's into a drive just to do a cddb.
Wouldn't you know, there's a very cool product out there, Readerware, that
runs on linux and allows you to scan the upc code on the cd cover to do a
lookup. It let me use my old :CueCat to scan with! Java, SQL, export to
web or palm, you name it. I haven't been able to find a bug in it yet.
$80 is a steal for something like this. </end product endorsement>
I've tried these so far:
GlobeCom Jukebox - nice interface
Mserv - comprehensive and uses ratings
PrivateRadio - radio station metaphor
Sajber Jukebox - supports streaming
Tunez - voting system, cute interface
DigitalDJ - very nice automation of cd ripping and catalog into a
mysql database
My main criterion was streaming/categorizing web stations and the best one
I found for that was Streamtuner.
