[NTLUG:Discuss] MPG movies not playing

Sometimes, I get sound with no video. Sometimes not much of anything. 
But I never see any video. Screen's just blank. Tried using Xine and 
XMovie (on a Mandrake 9.0 Beta), but no luck. Doesn't seem like it's a 
problem of a particular application as opposed to something basic in my 
Linux setup. Files open fine in MacOS X or Windows so I know it's not 
the file.

Sort of a basic function that I can't do. :P Any suggestions?
